First Day of School

Today was the first day back to school. Aliyah was so excited while waiting for the bus, and then the bus actually showed up, thats when she lost it and started to cry! I had to walk behind her and help her up the stairs. She then dropped her backpack and resting mat and just stood there and turned and said I want a huggy!! I gave her a big hug and kiss and she tearfully picked up her backpack and sat next to Henry. He took her to her class where she knew one boy from church, Ethan. She had a good day at the end of the day when she came home. Henry was taking the dog out this morning the dog got loose, henry fell and scraped both knees and elbow. Poor baby!

Henry is an old pro now. He got on that bus and took care of his little sister, I was so proud of him!! He took Aliyah to her class and then went to his. He said he had a good first day. He will have homework this year on Mondays, Tuesdays and Thursdays. I'll make sure he works his fingers to the bone!!!! hehehe

I had an exciting day today too. I took the kids their folders to school with all the paper work they want you to fill out, I had to call the bus garage this morning, and came back out to the car and my car wouldn't start! I popped the hood ( so I could look intelligent to anyone passing by) and cleaned around my battery cables, no luck. I called Nick and he tried for 30 minutes to get me started. By this time I am already late for work, my baby started school, and we cant' figure out what is going on, I was not doing well. He even tried to jump my car off with no luck. He took me to work, and he and George, his stepdad, went to look at it. It started. Go figure. But I thank the good Lord that it wasn't something serious. I guess it just needed to rest!! So that was my first day of school. Yes, after the kids got on the bus, I came in and cried.

Three more weeks to go!!

Hi everyone,

Well Aliyah only has 3 more weeks left of preschool and I only have 1 week left before I go back to work. Aliyah is very excited. The countdown has begun. I'll probably cry on the second day when she gets on the bus, and I'm sure that Nick will have a good laugh again. Theres just something about putting my babies on that big yellow bus! Aliyah can't ride in a car yet without being in a booster seat, but she can ride the big yellow cheese without a seatbelt.

Aliyah is the one with the black wild hair.

stuff about Nick

I think the cat has made Nick's eye infected. She scratched him last week and his right eye has been swollen ever since. It finally scabbed over, but he says it still hurts and will be going to the dr on monday to have it checked. I think that him working out in the heat is making it swell more, with all the sweat, grass and stuff. So for now I have to keep Sassy away from him. I am not letting him get rid of her, he'll come back around. She is not allowed in our room (at least when Nick is home).

New addittion to family

Nick and I will be celebrating 3 years of matrimonial bliss on July 30. We have certainly had our ups and downs! But, we have been so blessed in those 3 years, we have always had enough money to pay the bills, have been blessed by family when times got hard to help pay the bills. Nick brought me home something that I have been asking him for for 3 years, a kitten! He went to check on a yard for a lady and this kitten whose mommy abadoned them, evidently climbed up his leg, curled up on his shoulder and he brought her home to me. We named her Sassy. She is a good kitten, although she thinks that this one particular blanket that Nick's grandma crocheted is her personal litter box. I can't afford a litter pan and litter right now, so I have newspaper down where it will be and have been taking her there when I notice her going potty. Nick gets paid on Friday and sooner if he finishes up the lot where he found her. We had to take her to the vet on sat, she had an eye infection, vet gave us some drops and she is already doing better.

summer blues

So far this summer Henry and I have been to the library, gone swimming and watched lots of movies. Aliyah is still going to daycare, and some mornings I think she's jealous that Henry gets to stay home with mommy. I know that once she gets there she has fun. Henry made it to the first grade! I will try to scan a picture of him in his cap and gown into the computer and post it. I dont' recall haveing a kinderagarten graduation. I barely remember my senior graduation. It seems so long ago.

Henry has committed to read 10 books for the summer reading program, so far he has read 7. He is such a good reader. He will hopefully come to enjoy reading as he grows older.

Aliyah is Hannah Montana crazy. She wants a Hannah Montana backpack, clothes, and everything else. We occassionally let her watch the tv show when time allows. Nick and I even enjoy watching it.

Good Day to All

I am finding it hard to get everything accomplished in a day that I need to. It seems like a never ending cycle of dishes, laundry, cleaning, grocery shopping. And to top it all off I am trying to lose 30 lbs by the end of summer. I am also trying to get my own business started. I am a herbalife distributor. I am taking pills to help control hunger, boost metabolism and energy. So far I can tell a difference in my energy levels. They have improved so much and unlike the energy drinks you buy at the store, you don't come crashing down all of a sudden. The company has stuff for women, men, kids, weight management, nutrition, and skincare. To see more about the company and products visit http://www.herbalife.com. Now, I have to get off the computer and get to work. I am working on my training and learning more about how to run my own business with the help of great mentors, who have walked me through the entire process.

Me according to Henry

Happy Mother's Day one day late! I hope that everyone had a wonderful mom's day. The kids and Nick gave me flowers, took me out lunch, where I managed not to spill anything on myself. I still find it a challenge to eat left handed. Henry wrote a poem in school, well he filled in the blanks, which on here is in italics. I love the age, he took off 5 years!

My mom is 25 years old.

During the day my mom puts the new dog in the cage.

My mom's favorite food is macaroni and cheese.

My mom looks prettiest when she is wearing a church dress.

My mom's favorite place to go is to South Carolina.

My favorite thing my mom and I do is to take Lil' Bit for a walk.

My mom is the best dog feeder.

My favorite thing that my mom cooks for me is pizza.

If I had $100 I would buy my mom a frozen pizza and some grapes.

Broken Arm

Man, do I gave something to blog about. Last monday I fell and broke my right forearm in 3 places. The kids and I were the only ones home. I had to call Nick @ work on his cell phone. He came home and took me to thr ER, where it was confirmed it was broke. I had 2-3 hr surgery tues morning; where they put 2 metal plates and 6 screws in my arm.

While in the hospital I found out I am allergic to morphine and percacet. I broke out in hives all over my face and waist line. I had to look lovely when my pastor came to visit! lol

Came home wed. afternoon, changed meds to vicadin & ended up back in the er for shortness of breath, although this time I got to ride in an ambulance. So no more prescription drugs for me, I will stick ti Tylenol and benadryl for pain and itching.

I am a right handed person, so this has been rough for me. I don't like having to ask for help. Now I have to have help putting on a bra and gettind dressed,i can't cook or do anyother housework; which puts a lot of stress on Nick. He has been such a blessing. He even let me call hin nicky, which he hates, while i was in the hospital and enduring pain that was far worse than child labor.

I will try to keep everyone posted. I go back to the dr on april 21 to have the staples removed. My arm always has a dull ache to it & I itch almost constantly arond the staples.

Chores and kids

We are starting something new in the Savell household, Henry and Aliyah are getting chores to do. For a couple of reasons

1. Stress off mommy
2. daddy says so
3. To hopefully teach them some responsibility for later in life(boy does that sound familiar)

Their chores consist of making their beds every morning, folding and putting their own laundry away, taking out kitchen and bathroom trash.

Aliyah had to fold her laundry today, I have not seen how this was acutually done yet. I hope that it was just not stuffed into dresser drawers. We shall see. There was a lot of whining involved and according to her, will take forever! Now she knows how mommy feels when I spend the greater majority of my weekend doing laundry.

Henry has no complaints. It looks like he will be graduating to 1st grade next year, barring any more major behavior problems. Aliyah will be starting kindergarden in august and is excited avout riding the school bus.

We had a nice, quiet Easter at home after church.

7 Random Things

I was reading Chelsea's blog and it inspired me to get to thinking. Scary thought, I know. Let's see 7 random things about me.

1. I never wear shoes with any height to them, because I don't like being taller than Nick. He is 5 foot and a half and I am 5 ft 7. I can't remember the last time I wore a pair fo high heels. I never liked them anyway, I always feel like I'm falling. I never was very graceful.

2. I cannot roll my tongue and I also find it hard to make a fish face, it hurts my cheeks.

3.My favorite things:

color- deep purple

fav food- anything I don't have to cook and isn't messy. I love to cook and experiment.

4. I am most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, if I didn't want to go against tradition I would have worn them on my wedding day.

5. My best friend is my husband Nick, even though he gets on my nerves.

6. I am not an artsy, craftsy person, I am doing well to draw a stick person.

7.I am indecisive when it comes to shoe, clothes shopping for either me or the kids. I do better at garage sales.

No Lincoln towncar

Nick really surprised me on Friday. We went for a drive and we passed the razorback motel, and had me pull over. There were two cars for sale. He drove a 1998 Dodge Neon and bought it for me! Completely surprised me! I love it. No power windows, no power locks, and the best part is the kids can open their own doors. On the old car, the doors were too heavy for them to open.

He is always surprising me. I love him so much. I was upset with him over something small, and then he went and bought me a car. God blessed me with such a great husband!

Lincoln Towncar?!!??

I drive a 1988 crown victoria. No air conditioning (which is ok) and the front passenger side window doesnt roll down, still ok until today. The sun is hot, the car is hot from no windows down while at work, and I tried to get the driver side window down, and it didn't go down. Which made me really mad. Last summer I drove a van that only the passenger side window rolled down and then it had 2 small windows that slid open, it was a horribley, hot, miserable summer in that van. We drove it all the way to south carolina like that, and it was so hot! I refuse to have another summer like that. Especially having to drive to West Plains MO for soccer games!

We found a ford explorer that i really liked, but we would have to make payments on it and take money from savings that we are trying not to touch for when he goes to Iraq to work. Nick looked in the paper and found a Lincoln towncar for $800.00 it has a/c, but the two back windows don't roll down. I would love to finally have a vehicle that all 4 windows roll down, and has a/c. is tthat too much to ask? I know that I need to be thankful for what I do have, but I have to wonder what else God has in store for me. I know he wants me to have nice vehicles.

Fun in the snow

We had so much fun playing in the snow on friday. No school of course, and Nick and I both got off work early. Henry kept sneaking up on Nick hitting him with snowballs. Henry would hit him with one, and then run away. This is a picture of daddy finally hitting Henry with a snowball. I meant to post a different picture, but I guess I did this by accident, sorry! but it's a really good picture I think.
The snow is still on the ground today, but all the roads are clear. We went to moutain home, where I met my sister in law Beth for the first time today. It was fun! We got along really well.
Nick bought a table saw, a new toy. He is out in the carport putting it together. The brusel sprouts are just about done, to go with the stir fry Nick is suppossed to be cooking tonite.

Beautiful Weather

The weather was so nice on Sunday, spring like, 75 degrees! But it was not to last. Sorry that Henry is so far away, I tried to catch him on the sly, but you know how that goes.

Crazy Weather

We have had some really crazy weather the last few days. On sat and sun. it was beautiful! The highs were in the 70's, close to 75 on sunday. We all enjoyed the weekend. We had our first cook-out on sunday. Charcoal steaks for the adults and hot dogs for the kids. They were great, although a little tough.

Monday started out nice, then it got cold. Tuesday night it started to snow. We have about 1-2" of snow on the ground. And the high is 26, with a wind chill factor of 16, tomorrow the high will be in the 50's again, with more snow possible on friday. I am ready for spring!! I am tired of snow, rain, ice, sleet and cold. I am ready for warm weather, but of course with that comes the digging out of the summer clothes to see what can still be fit into by Henry and Aliyah. Some shorts may get passed down to Aliyah for around the house.

The first pic is of our backyard covered in snow this was taken today, March 4. The second pic was taken last night March 3. We got rain on monday and snow tuesday night and morning.

I almost had a wreck today trying to drive to work. I tried to go uphill (first mistake), the back of the car fish taled and I was doing a lot of praying! I got out of the car, to assess what I needed to do, to try to correct myself (Henry and Aliyah were in their car seats) a man and his wife stopped and offered to take me where I needed to go., Turns out they were christians, and were such a blessing. I was close to tears. That is such a helpless feeling when that happens, esp when you have such precious cargo in the car. I got to my sisters where we called a tow truck, and thankfully nobody hit my car while it was in the road!

Soccer

The directv guy called and said he coudlnt' make it, so now we are waiting for him for thurs. Nick will have to be here, Henry starts soccer practice today, it's really windy, but we have had to postpone it for rain, tornado, snowand ice, so we are going to go through with it. Hopefuly he will enjoy it and get something positive out of it.

His games will be in West Plains Missouri on saturdays this summer. A long way to go( 2hours), but the city is quite bigger than our little town and it will be nice to visit a bigger city and go SHOPPING!!! My husband is dreading this except for the fact that they have a home depot and a lowes.
Will get a pic of Henry playing and post it

Waiting on people

I am sitting here waiting on the DirecTV guy to come and hook us up. We got tired of no tv. Why is it than when they say between 12 and 4 it is always at 4? I wish they would just give us an specific time, it would make my life easier.
I have grocery shopping to do, sunday school tonight, and I get everyone ready for a new school and work week. But, I will have my home and garden, TLC, Discovery and the kids will have some cartoon channesla dn and nick will have his Do it Yourself channel.

It is awfully quiet around here right now, with nick napping on the couch, I can catch up on my blog, email, and just enjoy the quiet and of course wait on the satelliteguy to call for directions to our house!

one really scarry night

We had a really scary night last night. The town of Highland, which is about 2-3 miles from our home, was hit by a tornado last night. It destroyed the town. It went right down the middle of hwy 62?412. The fire dept, restaraunts, churches and about 3 houses have just been destroyed. It was a scary night! Thank the Lord, no one was seriously hurt or killed in our community. I don't have any pictures I can upload yet, but hopefully I will soon you can see some pictures at Kait8.com

stuff about me

I was at home yesterday just thinking about what Jesus means to me. He is my redeemer, my counselor, my God, my savior, and my best friend.I got to thinking about all he has brought me through in the last 4 years. and He has taught me that my strength comes from the word of my testimony. I have felt that I need to share my testimony for some time. I don't know if it will encourage anyone, but if you know of someone or yourself that is in the same position I found myself in, I pray that they would run to Jesus and another trusted friend here on earth that would help them.

After I graduated from high school, I kind of went crazy. I started sleeping around with men, that I really didn;t know. I lost my virginity to a man that I later broke up with after he hit me, he immediately apologized, but I called it quits. He was from Honduras. After him, I slept with 2 other men, both from Costa Rica. I look back now and still wonder what I was thinking. I strayed from my relationship with Jesus. I still went to churh, but there was no relationship with Jesus. While working at a printing factory I met Henry, a black man that was on work release from jail. He told me everything I wanted to hear, I was beautiful, he loved me and wanted to marry me. I never found out what he was in jail for until after he got out. I moved in with him Feb 2001, and everything went okay for awhile. Money soon began to disappear, there was never enough money for bills. I found out that my boyfriend was addicted to crack cocaine, he was spending $300 a week on crack. I soon found myself pregnant and afraid to leave. We moved a lot because we couldn;t keep up with the rent. My son, Henry was born in jan 02 and 3 months later, i was pregnant again. I moved into a mobile home that was not fit for a rat to live in, and had my daughter Aliyah in
jan 03. The lights were cut off b/c we owed $700 to the light company. My boyfriend got arrested for an old warrant, and the day he went to jail, my kids were taken from me. I moved and got my kids back the next day.

In feb 04 I had enough, we were looking at having to move again, and my boyfriend was doing more crack cocaine than ever before. He had started to hit me, threaten to kill me, and I decided it was finally time to leave.

I moved to arkanas with a 2 year old and a 1 year old. almost 1 year to the day that i left south carolina, I met my husband. God restored everything that satan had tried to steal from me. God is my kinsman redeemer. I hope that someone will read this and remember

1. Jesus is never too busy to hear your cry or listen to you.

2. Jesus wants to give back to you everything that the enemy has stolen.
3. If you find yourself in an abusive relationship thinking you cant do it on your own, know that Jesus never intended for you to stay. He's waiting with his arms open wide to hug you and help you and that there are people out there to help, you just have to ask.

random thoughts

Henry and Aliyah got a snow day yesterday. Thank goodness I was off work or I would have had to take them with me, in laws are sick and my mom lives too far away to babysit.

I watched a really good movie with Denzel Washington in it. Man of Fire, it's based on a true story, which I like, because it is more beleivable than some of the other movies I've seen. A funny movie we watched was Without a Paddle. If you need a good laugh, watch this one.

When is the magical age that kids sleep in? Henry and Aliyah were awake at 6 am yesterday and on the weekends. I guess I need to enjoy it, before I know it they will be teeanagers wanting to sleep all day.

I took Henry to see his doc for ADD yesterday, and they upped his dosage. He is still having some behavvioral problems in school, but his speech is improving! He tends to mumble a lot, or talk really soft, which really irritates me.

stuff about me

Hi to evreryone who actually reads this. It has been a very long time since I have written but, since I don't have a computer, it is hard to blog. Let's see Herny celebrated his 6th birthday on the 17th of Jan. and Aliyah will celebrate hers on the 25th. She will be 5. How they grow up so fast!

I fractured my left foot on Jan. 5, but didn't go to the ER until sunday, jan. 6. Come to find out it was broke, and that explained the intense pain anytime i tried to put pressure on it. How did it happen, no Nick didn't do it. We were cleaning up our yard, and a metal utility trailer with a bunch of junk (old recliner chair, trash in general, and a couple fo kerosene heaters) when it fell of the stump we had the tongue propped on, and it fell on my foot. Nick felt so bad, bless his heart. He said move, but i couldn't move fast enough.
So I am in a walking boot, that feels like it weighs a ton, and cannot go back to work until the first of Feb.

We are all doing fine, although as of right now, it is so cold outside that the washer has frozen and I am at my sisters house doing laundry.
