Chores and kids

We are starting something new in the Savell household, Henry and Aliyah are getting chores to do. For a couple of reasons

1. Stress off mommy
2. daddy says so
3. To hopefully teach them some responsibility for later in life(boy does that sound familiar)

Their chores consist of making their beds every morning, folding and putting their own laundry away, taking out kitchen and bathroom trash.

Aliyah had to fold her laundry today, I have not seen how this was acutually done yet. I hope that it was just not stuffed into dresser drawers. We shall see. There was a lot of whining involved and according to her, will take forever! Now she knows how mommy feels when I spend the greater majority of my weekend doing laundry.

Henry has no complaints. It looks like he will be graduating to 1st grade next year, barring any more major behavior problems. Aliyah will be starting kindergarden in august and is excited avout riding the school bus.

We had a nice, quiet Easter at home after church.

7 Random Things

I was reading Chelsea's blog and it inspired me to get to thinking. Scary thought, I know. Let's see 7 random things about me.

1. I never wear shoes with any height to them, because I don't like being taller than Nick. He is 5 foot and a half and I am 5 ft 7. I can't remember the last time I wore a pair fo high heels. I never liked them anyway, I always feel like I'm falling. I never was very graceful.

2. I cannot roll my tongue and I also find it hard to make a fish face, it hurts my cheeks.

3.My favorite things:

color- deep purple

fav food- anything I don't have to cook and isn't messy. I love to cook and experiment.

4. I am most comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt, if I didn't want to go against tradition I would have worn them on my wedding day.

5. My best friend is my husband Nick, even though he gets on my nerves.

6. I am not an artsy, craftsy person, I am doing well to draw a stick person.

7.I am indecisive when it comes to shoe, clothes shopping for either me or the kids. I do better at garage sales.

No Lincoln towncar

Nick really surprised me on Friday. We went for a drive and we passed the razorback motel, and had me pull over. There were two cars for sale. He drove a 1998 Dodge Neon and bought it for me! Completely surprised me! I love it. No power windows, no power locks, and the best part is the kids can open their own doors. On the old car, the doors were too heavy for them to open.

He is always surprising me. I love him so much. I was upset with him over something small, and then he went and bought me a car. God blessed me with such a great husband!

Lincoln Towncar?!!??

I drive a 1988 crown victoria. No air conditioning (which is ok) and the front passenger side window doesnt roll down, still ok until today. The sun is hot, the car is hot from no windows down while at work, and I tried to get the driver side window down, and it didn't go down. Which made me really mad. Last summer I drove a van that only the passenger side window rolled down and then it had 2 small windows that slid open, it was a horribley, hot, miserable summer in that van. We drove it all the way to south carolina like that, and it was so hot! I refuse to have another summer like that. Especially having to drive to West Plains MO for soccer games!

We found a ford explorer that i really liked, but we would have to make payments on it and take money from savings that we are trying not to touch for when he goes to Iraq to work. Nick looked in the paper and found a Lincoln towncar for $800.00 it has a/c, but the two back windows don't roll down. I would love to finally have a vehicle that all 4 windows roll down, and has a/c. is tthat too much to ask? I know that I need to be thankful for what I do have, but I have to wonder what else God has in store for me. I know he wants me to have nice vehicles.

Fun in the snow

We had so much fun playing in the snow on friday. No school of course, and Nick and I both got off work early. Henry kept sneaking up on Nick hitting him with snowballs. Henry would hit him with one, and then run away. This is a picture of daddy finally hitting Henry with a snowball. I meant to post a different picture, but I guess I did this by accident, sorry! but it's a really good picture I think.
The snow is still on the ground today, but all the roads are clear. We went to moutain home, where I met my sister in law Beth for the first time today. It was fun! We got along really well.
Nick bought a table saw, a new toy. He is out in the carport putting it together. The brusel sprouts are just about done, to go with the stir fry Nick is suppossed to be cooking tonite.

Beautiful Weather

The weather was so nice on Sunday, spring like, 75 degrees! But it was not to last. Sorry that Henry is so far away, I tried to catch him on the sly, but you know how that goes.

Crazy Weather

We have had some really crazy weather the last few days. On sat and sun. it was beautiful! The highs were in the 70's, close to 75 on sunday. We all enjoyed the weekend. We had our first cook-out on sunday. Charcoal steaks for the adults and hot dogs for the kids. They were great, although a little tough.

Monday started out nice, then it got cold. Tuesday night it started to snow. We have about 1-2" of snow on the ground. And the high is 26, with a wind chill factor of 16, tomorrow the high will be in the 50's again, with more snow possible on friday. I am ready for spring!! I am tired of snow, rain, ice, sleet and cold. I am ready for warm weather, but of course with that comes the digging out of the summer clothes to see what can still be fit into by Henry and Aliyah. Some shorts may get passed down to Aliyah for around the house.

The first pic is of our backyard covered in snow this was taken today, March 4. The second pic was taken last night March 3. We got rain on monday and snow tuesday night and morning.

I almost had a wreck today trying to drive to work. I tried to go uphill (first mistake), the back of the car fish taled and I was doing a lot of praying! I got out of the car, to assess what I needed to do, to try to correct myself (Henry and Aliyah were in their car seats) a man and his wife stopped and offered to take me where I needed to go., Turns out they were christians, and were such a blessing. I was close to tears. That is such a helpless feeling when that happens, esp when you have such precious cargo in the car. I got to my sisters where we called a tow truck, and thankfully nobody hit my car while it was in the road!
